basics of kriya meditation Can't Post

How to practice meditation

Sit on an armless chair, inhale deeply for ten seconds, hold the breath for the same time and exhale with a double exhalation (also for ten seconds). Repeat this procedure five or six times.

Close your eyes and concentrate on the point between the eyebrows

Pray to God in any way you are able to understand him.

Watch your breath, without trying to control it. When inhaling, repeat mentally the word "hong" (pronunciation: Hong), when exhaling repeat mentally the word "so". Keep the gaze to the point in the middle of your eyebrows.

(Hong-so is a sanskrit mantra taught by Paramahansa Yogananda and the kriya yoga gurus, whose meaning is "I am he")

After practicing this way for ten minutes or more, disregard the breath and go on contemplating the point between the eyebrows. Try to stop your thoughts and be aware only of the light that you may perceive. Fix your gaze on that light and try to penetrate it. Go on as long as you can.

(If you do not manage to be always concentrated, this is the right time to talk to God. After doing that, open your eyes, practice again the hong-so technique for a while and try to meditate again).

The contemplation is the real meditative experience, while techniques are only tools to use in order to reach a meditative state.

When you feel inclined, end the session and go back to your normal activities.

The results of meditation are:

A stronger immune system
Reduction of blood pressure
Refinement of the brain
Ability to experience refined states of consciousness

Kriya yoga initiation in Italy by a direct disciple of Paramahansa Yogananda

Hi everybody. I have made this post in order to let you know that from 20th (Friday) to 22nd (Sunday) april 2007, Roy Eugene Davis (a direct disciple of Paramahansa Yogananda) will be in Italy for a seminar and a kriya yoga initiation. During the seminar, Mr. Davis will speak english and there will be a translation into Italian and (maybe) French. As probably also the organizers will lecture once in a while, their talks will be translated into French and English.

10:00 pm - Kirtan with Swami Nirvanananda (indian devotional songs)

Saturday 21st april:

07:00 am - group meditation
10:00 am - Lecture (Roy Eugene Davis): meditation techniques of kriya yoga
02:00 pm - Lecture (Roy Eugene Davis): Living in a holistic way
06:30 pm - group meditation
08:30 pm - Lecture (Roy Eugene Davis): preparation for initiation
10:00 pm - Kirtan with Swami Nirvanananda (indian devotional songs)

Sunday 22nd april:

06:30 am - group meditation
09:00 am - Kriya yoga initiation given by Roy Eugene Davis
11:30 am - end of the seminar

The seminar is open to everybody is seriously interested to improve his life from a spiritual viewpoint. Specific knowledge of classic yoga is not necessary. The seminar will take place in a monastery just out of town. This facility can put up about 130 people (108 beds in double or triple rooms with bathroom + 12 beds in a dormitory + 10 sleeping out of the facility).

What is kriya yoga and who is Roy Eugene Davis

Roy Eugene Davis is a direct disciple of Paramahansa Yogananda (the author of the book "autobiography of a yogi"). Born in 1931, Davis met Yogananda in 1949 and he was immediately accepted as a disciple. Yogananda soon gave Mr. Davis a position of responsability in the SRF center of Phoenix and, later, (1951) he authorized him to teach in the kriya yoga tradition. You can find much material about mr. Davis in these pages (www.kriyayoga.it) or in the pages of his spiritual organization (Center for Spiritual Awareness - www.csa-davis.org) .

Kriya means "action". We consider as a "kriya" every right action that we perform in order to grow spiritually. Paramahansa Yogananda taught that with devotion, right living, service and meditation we can realize the full reality of God in our lives. Paramahansa Yogananda explained also some scientific techniques of meditation that, progressively, refine the nervous system of the practicioners allowing them to experiment superconscious states.

Prices:

The seminar is free. During the initiation you will be able to leave a donation that we will use for our general expenses. In order to eat and sleep at the monastery, the tariff quoted by the brothers is 66 euros in total, covering meals and lodging from the dinner of 20th to the lunch of 22nd. There are no other expenses. Though we collect payments, the money collected is for the brothers and not for us.

How to reserve:

Get in touch with me by sending an e-mail to fsyukteswarji@yahoo.com or calling by phone (evening hours) +393498335768.

Where is Albisola Superiore:

Albisola Superiore is about 30 km out of Genoa. If you land in the airport of Genoa (there are daily flights from Munich, London, Paris and other italian towns), you can get a taxi to the closest railway station (Genova Cornigliano - less than 5 minutes by car from the airport). Get a train going towards Savona or Ventimiglia and get off the train in Albisola (the travel by train will take you about 25 minutes). Once arrived at the station of Albisola, get a taxi and in less than 5 minutes you will be at the monastery (the name is: "Santuario della Pace" - it means: "sanctuary of peace").

Other information

Receiving the initiation from a direct disciple of Paramahansa Yogananda is a unique opportunity. Read the book "Autobiography of a yogi" - by Paramahansa Yogananda and also a few books written by Roy Eugene Davis in order to get the maximum out of this experience. Feel free to ask me any information you may need. Reservations will be closed at the end of march. On 2nd march 2007 we still have 10 beds available in the dormitory. So far we have already received a few reservations from people living outside Italy (UK, Slovenja, USA, Greece and Switzerland)

Kind regards - Furio Sclano
