Purple log sheet Can't Post

Crazy I am having a bit of difficulty with the log sheet and knowing where to put what. I can only get to one class a week (much to my frustration), so most of what I do is at home. So does this go in the top section of the log or the bottom section (marked "Core practice"). I don't yet have a close enough relationship with a mentor outside of the college to get them to sign off on practice they have not witnessed, so I have been squishing it all in the bottom section which has no room to record what I am doing. i know this is extremely unimportant in the scheme of things but everytime I fill it out I get a small but significant feeling of inadequacy! What is everyone else doing?

Re: [sue wright] Purple log sheet [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Sue,

Welcome to the forum

Unsure whether want I am doing is right or wrong. But I use a separate sheet for my home practice, and another for my practice in classes. On the home practice, I use the top section as well as the bottom section. In my home practice I am do both the "core practice" as well as other practice - ie meditation etc.

Namaste,

Rod

I think the idea is any classes or personal practice you do goes in the top section and any at the end of the week you count up the core practices and put them in the bottem section.

I have been putting everything in the top section because I need to write things down the minuite I do them of I forget, trying to back fill how many time I have done the core practice is almost imposible for me and I am sure I have left some of them out.

Re: [Bonnie] Purple log sheet [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm doing the same as Bonnie. All my practice goes in the top part, and I only get that session signed if I went to a class. Otherwise I leave the signature section blank. I only use the bottom part to summarise how may core sessions I did that week. I do lots of smaller sessions so I go through a page about every week and a half so I usually only have one entry in the bottom part.

Re: [sue wright] Purple log sheet [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Sue (and all who are querying the purple log sheets),
The sheets are there to keep a log and record of your yoga practice over each month, be it asana, pranayama, meditation, core practice etc. They are there to show us that you have been doing regular practice of some kind. We would prefer that you are going to a studio, teacher or mentor so that you are being guided in some way, however if this is not possible in some weeks then your personal home practice is appropriate. Ideally if you are doing your home practice then it is recommended that you are practicing the core practice in order for you to become familiar with it and also refine it, as we prepare to progress forward throughout the year to level 2 and more advanced asana practice. Your own personal practice is also appropriate as long as you familiarise yourself with the foundations of the core practice which we would like you to be doing at least one to three times a week, in addition to your other practice.
Now as Bonnie suggested you can enter all of your practices in the top section, and then at the end of the week tally how many of those were core practices and put them in the bottom section, with an overall reflection in the bottom section about how you feel you are progressing with the core practice. The top section is to record the details of each individual practices you are doing...if they are with a teacher we ask that you get them to sign it...if it is your own then put in personal practice or core practice pp, and you can leave the signature space blank. If it was an 8am core practice at the CAE, you add that onto the log sheet as a core practice CAE and get either myself or one of the other teachers to sign it, and then add that to your weeks tally in the bottom,
hope this clarifies things for you...it you have any more queries please don't hesitate to contact me direct or ask via the forum,
May this bring peace of mind and clarity,
Love and Light to you all,
Namaste,
Andrew

Re: [Bonnie] Purple log sheet [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Bonnie,
In answer to your question, yes the log sheets need to be handed in every month, or when ever you complete them, so please feel free to place then into my pidgeon hole or draw at the back of the room. If you could please send me your February and March ones to my home address that would be great, Contact me on amournehis@vtown.com.au and I can give you my details if you haven't got them, as I won't be seeing you again until April after Easter and I would like to tally them up before then. However from April on, feel free to just hand them to me in class or place them in my pidgeon hole,
Love and Light to you,
Namaste,
Andrew
P.s Please also add your cae core practice on the sheets, Thanks

Thanks Andrew (and others), for that advice. It's much clearer to me now. I have been keeping track of my practice in my journal while I figured out what to do, so it will be easy enough to fill in. I will snail mail it next week. Have a lovely Easter.

Re: [amournehis] Purple log sheet [In reply to] Can't Post

The idea of doing a whole heap of log sheet entries and journal entries and then handing them in and finding out we are on the wrong track is kinda scary. Maybe it would be a good idea to hand them in so we could get a little feed back, just a "your on the right track keep going" or a " you need to write more about....."

It seems with the journal for lisa we weren't really on the right track, the idea of not being on the right track for the others is scary

Hi Bonnie,
Thanks for the feedback. Would be really happy to look over the purple sheets and give feedback to you in our next session together.
If there is a sheet that is completely out then I would let that student know, or if someone has not been doing enough practice then I would review their progress. I am happy to give some feedback in our next session,
we will speak again soon,
til then Be Well, Namaste, Andrew
