states in part the following about its course.

Curriculum:

The following components are included in the AYTN curriculum:

  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • Relaxation methods (Yoga Nidra)
  • Mental concentration and meditation (Dharana and Dhyana)
  • Extensive practical work on perfecting the postures (Asanas)
  • Controlled or conscious breathing techniques (Pranayama)
  • Approaches to the different interpretations of Hatha Yoga
  • Yoga philosophy (Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, the Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads)
  • Mudras, Bandhas and Kriyas
  • The Chakras, Gunas and Koshas
  • Introduction to the principal styles of Yoga - Raja, Karma, Bhakti, Hatha and Jnana
  • Yoga therapy - for asthma, insomnia etc.
  • Pregnancy and post-natal classes
  • Yoga for children
  • Yoga for the aged. Introduction to Ayuvena
  • First Aid Certificate.

Also included in the course are the following:

  • Teaching techniques for different ability groups, including the very advanced Yoga student.
  • Administration and financial management classes and awareness of liability.

Duration of the course:
The AYTN Teacher Training Course takes 15 months to complete, conducted over a 16 month period (there is no teaching in the month of January).
Classes are 2 Sundays each month between the hours of 9.30am and 5.00pm.
The course commences during March each year.


Classes will we held in Carlton, and Brighton East (depending on student numbers).
