hours of teaching barefoot on wood floor = PAIN Can't Post

I am just curious if anyone else is having this problem. I'm a fairly new teacher, I completed my certification in December. Until now, I had only been teaching a class here and there. Things are starting to take off for me now, and on some days, I find myself teaching two or three classes-- often two of them are back-to-back. Usually by the time I'm instructing the backbending sequence of my second class, I start to becoming acutely aware how tender my feet feel with each step-- as if the flesh on the bottom of my feet has worn thin and the bones have little to protect them from the hard floor. At times, I think that something is stuck to the bottom of my foot right under the ball of my foot, but if I sneak a look, there's nothing there. When I arrive home after teaching multiple classes and I take off my shoes to walk on the wood floor of my apartment, it's even worse. And as I fall asleep, my feet just ache.

Being on my feet for hours is nothing new to me. I have worked quite a few jobs in which I had to be on my feet for 8 hours+, but in shoes. I'm fine in shoes. I'm fine barefoot on carpet or on my yoga mat, it's being barefoot on a hard floor that's taking its toll. (And yet I didn't have this problem years ago when I was a dance major.)

So, before I trot off to a podiatrist, I just wanted to check and see if any other yoga teachers were having this problem. Or if anyone might say that my feet just need to toughen up and that it will go away as I keep teaching more. I'm hoping it's not Morton's Neuroma, which isn't severe, but requires supportive shoes to recover. I cannot teach yoga in shoes!

I noticed that my feet got sore when I did my daily chores in my house in bare feet. (I have hard wood floors.) When I have socks on it's fine.

Is there any way you could teach while standing on a mat of some sort?
