Long time since qualifying Can't Post

Hi everyone

I am new here and just wanted to get some advice. I qualified as a yoga teacher in India over a year ago. When I got back I was so busy that I didn't get round to starting up some classes. For the first half a year I practised consistently (3 or 4 times a week) plus attended classes. Then towards the end of the year I slacked off and have been out of practice for a while.

I recently found a good venue for classes by chance and have a lot of people asking me to set up and run classes too. I would love to get classes going and feel that I can do it but am unsure because I have not been maintaining personal practice for a while.

I delayed the hall for some time but they will only hold it for me for another month and a half. Do you think I can get up to speed in my personal practice enough to start teaching in a month and a half? Do you think I am still fit to teach if my own practice has been dwindling?

Any feedback would be very welcome.

Thanks

Lorraine

Hi Lorraine,
I would say look at how many other areas in your life you have been practicing apart from doing postures. There is a lot more to yoga than the postures, and if you have been moving in a direction with your actions where yoga teaching has opened up as a possibility then I would say go for it. Go back over the basics like reading Patanjali and let your heart decide. Best of luck, namaste, Carolyn Minchin.
