Cert. or no Cert.? Can't Post

Hi, I'm wondering about how much other teachers paid to get certified and how long it took. I'm currently trying to decide whether its worth my time and money to get certified, since there is no law stating the you must be certitfied to teach. Any guidance would be great.

Re: [Genoagale] Cert. or no Cert.? [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi,
I think it's really important to be certified for health and safety reasons. But it's also a little artifical getting certified in a tradition so deep and varied and profound and mysterious. And I've had some less than encouraging experiences of yoga teacher training, i.e. some dodgy translations of the tradition. It is cheaper to get a cert IV in fitness, generally available through TAFE, and I think this brings us back to the basics of health and safety, therefore this is the cert that I plan to go for, although I would also do ongoing training in yoga. Certificaction gives you access to insurance and therefore mainstream venues. It's also possible to just go ahead and do it without that. You can only make this decision based on your own circumstances. Best of luck,
Carolyn.
